Food drives are essential in helping FOOD Share provide food for our 190 agency partners and programs. While they might not necessarily bring in a huge volume of food compared to other food sources, they give everyone in the community an opportunity to help their hungry neighbors by donating even one can of food. Food Drives run by organizations, clubs, schools, neighborhoods, corporations, and individuals are essential to helping us feed the hungry of Ventura County.
Our goal for 2016 was to bring in 750,000 pounds of food!
Last FY, we collected almost 600,000 lbs of food through food drives!
Anyone can host a food drive and FOOD Share offers support and tools to host one. Although holidays are the most popular time of year to hold food drives, hunger is year round and we encourage you to participate any time! It’s easy to hold a food drive to help the hungry and we have the resources to assist you!
