We met Maria at one of our emergency food box distributions as she juggled two boxes, milk, and a bag of fresh produce to the bus stop. She told us how grateful she is for the food she receives.
Maria is a farmworker, one of more than 42,000 men and women in Ventura County who pick crops to ensure that we can enjoy the abundance of fresh produce we find at the grocery store. But Maria often doesn’t have enough nutritious food for herself or her family.
