FOOD SHARE WELCOMES TWO NEW BOARD MEMBERS

(OXNARD, CA) Food Share has welcomed two new members to its board of directors – Ian Thompson, Senior Vice President, General Manager of Amgen’s U.S. General Medicine Business, and Pete Firestone, Senior Managing Director at Protiviti, within the firm’s Business Performance Improvement Practice.

Ian was born in the U.K. and completed his undergraduate degree at Leeds Beckett University before earning an MBA from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. He joined the pharmaceutical industry in Australia, commencing a 14-year international career with Eli Lilly & Company prior to joining Amgen. In his spare time, he is an accomplished cyclist, representing Great Britain on the National Track Cycling team. He enjoys combining his competitive spirit with philanthropy, competing in the Ironman Championship, and winning the Simpson Desert Mountain Bike Classic to raise money for a range of nonprofit organizations.

“Amgen has had a long relationship with Food Share and I’m pleased to be continuing that association,” commented Thompson. “I’m looking forward to working with Monica and the rest of the Board to help ensure Food Share has the support it needs to continue to serve the community.”

Pete is a long-time management consultant, having assisted some of the world’s most recognized companies with improving performance. Prior to his current position at Protiviti, he was a Partner in Accenture’s Management Consulting practice and, before that, a Consulting Partner at Deloitte and Ernst & Young.

A resident of Thousand Oaks for the past 17 years, Pete has coached several years of youth soccer, basketball, and baseball, in addition to serving as Board Member, Development Committee Chair, and Advisory Trustee for the ALS Association.

“I’m thrilled to join Food Share at this time, and to help the Board and the outstanding team at Food Share as the financial fallout of covid-19 continues to push hunger to record levels,” he said.
